The CEB subsidiary of Precious Wood, FSC and PAFC-PEFC certified, open a new Azobe processing plant.
The Minister of Forests, the Sea and the Environment of Gabon, in charge of the climate plan, Professor Lee White, carried out in Bambidi, in the province of Ogoué-Lolo the inauguration of the new Azobe processing plant azobé from the company Precious Woods CEB. This inauguration took place with the presence of the managing director of the company in Gabon, Mr. Frédéric Ober, the governor of the province Jean-Bosco Assingbagni and the representative of the African development bank in Gabon, Mr. Robert Masumbuko.
The Minister commented during his visit that this new wood processing unit fits perfectly with the presidential will to create 30,000 jobs in the wood forest sector over the next three years.
« The opening of this new factory dedicated to the processing of azobé, particularly during the pandemic, gives me great hope for the future of the wood processing industry in our country. It will allow us to increase the productivity of our forest and create more jobs. By moving to secondary and tertiary processing, we will be able to increase the number of jobs in the forestry sector as well as multiply the economic value of our wood and the forestry economy by 10 within 10 years ” said the minister.
The general manager of the company, Mr. Frédéric Ober, specified that this new investment will increase the turnover by 24 billion CFA francs and the production capacity of 53,000 m³ of lumber. With this investment, the company created 87 additional jobs.
The Precious Woods company, member of ATIBT, manages a 596.800 ha forest concession in Gabon, and has dual certification in sustainable management, FSC and PAFC-PEFC.
