Agroforestry is making a strong comeback in many forums and projects because of the advantages and perspectives offered by this model. Within the Cité du Développement Durable, in Nogent-sur-Marne, several structures are involved in these themes. The ATIBT also wished to take up the subject by bringing together its members who wished to do so and some of the Cité's actors.
In 2018, an informal group thus came into being with the partners of the Cité du Développement Durable. Given the enthusiasm of the ATIBT network around this topic and to follow up on the work carried out since 2018, the ATIBT wished to formalize this group and launch an "agroforestry and plantations" commission.
The first official meeting took place on June 1, 2021 via Zoom. 16 participants met to reflect together on the 2021 roadmap. To date, the commission has 13 member entities.
Two main areas of work have been defined for the coming months, via the creation of two sub-groups:
- a sub-group to work on cocoa/timber associations
- a sub-group that will deal with the issue of the valorization of agroforestry products.
In addition, the commission is working on the establishment of a monitoring and communication plan via the ATIBT newsletter specific to the theme "agroforestry and plantations".
This commission is open to ATIBT members and to those of the Cité du Développement Durable in Nogent-sur-Marne. Interested parties can still apply to participate in this commission by writing to the following address maylis.borelli@atibt.org.
