After several months of intense preparations, here we are: the Forum took place in Nantes last week, a great moment of reunion for our sector after 2 years without true meetings ! We return here to the main highlights of our Forum, but above all we would like to thank the donors and companies that have contributed to financing this organization, namely: PPECF-COMIFAC, AFD, FFEM, FAO , ITTO, FSC Denmark, PEFC International, and the companies Pallisco, Precious Woods, Rougier, Interholco and CIB Olam. We would also like to thank the other companies that contributed to providing the elements for our stand.
ATIBT's 70th anniversary gala, start of the Forum
On Tuesday afternoon, the ATIBT General Assembly took place, the first one in person for almost 3 years. We counted on the presence of H.E. Madam Minister of Forest Economy of the Republic of Congo.
On this occasion, the ATIBT team had prepared a friendly and lively Assembly, in order to present to the members the current actions and to come back to the administrative aspects as it should be.
The accounts for the year 2021, audited by the auditor and approved by the Board of Directors, were approved by the GA.
The presentation of the GA is available here
At the end of this Assembly was held our gala evening, organized in honor of the 70 years of our Association. A success, according to all of you! The ATIBT team was delighted to hear your numerous positive feedbacks and to see the participants spending a beautiful evening, thrilled by the machines of the Ile de Nantes and especially by its amazing mechanical elephant !
A rich Forum at the Carrefour International du Bois!
The next day, June 1st, the Forum started, organized in several times. From Wednesday to Friday, round tables were held almost continuously on the ATIBT booth. This booth has also marked the spirits! Organized as an "agora", it was able to mobilize many listeners throughout the Timbershow (even on Friday afternoon!) and saw discussions and debates. FSC, PEFAC/PAFC, WRI, Probos, Rainforest Alliance, .... Many ATIBT partners and key actors in the sustainable management of tropical forests had the opportunity to intervene in this agora.
ATIBT was also present on 2 other booths: opposite the ATIBT booth, there was an institutional Congo Basin booth, and next to the ATIBT booth, there was a Fair&Precious booth run by forest operators members of the collective.
Another key moment of the Forum: the day of conferences on June 1st, in a dedicated room, with a press conference in the middle of the day. This cycle will have allowed to address various topics centered around the development of markets for certified tropical timber. Side-events were also organized in the same room on Thursday, June 2.
The Forum ended on Friday afternoon with a cocktail at the ATIBT booth, preceded by a speech by Her Excellency Rosalie Matondo, Minister of Forest Economy of the Republic of Congo, who was present in Nantes throughout the Forum.
All the sessions presented on the ATIBT stand were filmed and will be available soon.
The entire ATIBT team would like to thank all the participants who mobilized in Nantes to make this event a highlight for our Association and our sector! We are sincerely very happy to have been able to find these times of exchange with our members, partners and networks during this Forum.
