Congotali is an exotic species native to Africa. The wood is reddish brown, very durable. This species can be used in marine or brackish water, so it is suitable for hydraulic works, as well as for the manufacture of railway sleepers, bridges or heavy frameworks.

Congotali is a tree growing in forests of Central Africa: it reaches a height of 40 to 50 m, with a diameter from 130 up to 200 cm. The bole is straight and cylindrical, with a fluted base.

Due to its high specific gravity, hardness and high silica content, the exotic Congotali species naturally covers use class 5 (use in marine or brackish water). It can be used as a subsitute of Azobé.
