Mukulungu is a large tree of the forests of West and Central Africa that can reach 50 m high and 2 m in diameter. It is a very durable wood, naturally covering class 5 (use in marine environment or brackish water): it is used for bridges, railway sleepers, hydraulic works and other uses requiring solid and resistant materials.

Mukulungu is a very large tropical tree that can reach 50 m in height and 2 m in diameter. The base of the trunk is thick, sometimes with buttresses. The bole is covered with a grey to brownish bark, cracked, like the scale of moabi.
The tropical wood mukulungu is a very durable, heavy and hard material. It naturally covers class 5 and can therefore be used for products exposed to marine and brackish water.
It is used in particular in heavy and industrial works in marine environment, or for the construction of bridge in contact with the ground or the water.

The exotic essence mukulungu is found in West and Central Africa, from Nigeria to the DRC.
Mukulungu is a deciduous, semi-heliophilous, non-gregarious species that grows in semi-deciduous forests. Its seeds are dispersed by animals from January to March.
