Iatandza is an exotic timber species that grows in the dense rainforests of Central and West Africa. The wood is yellow-brown to red-brown, sometimes with golden highlights. Versatile, it is used in interior and exterior joinery, as well as in the plywood industry.

Iatandza is a large tropical tree that can reach 40 m in height and 1 m in diameter. The trunk has buttresses at the base, and is covered with a very scaly dark gray bark. The yellowish slice lets out a yellow-brown gum.
The tropical wood iatandza is used in interior and exterior joinery. It is also used in the plywood industry.
This timber is well suited for outdoor use due to its resistance to humidity; however, it should not be exposed to permanent humidification.

The tropical species iatandza is found in the western part of Africa (Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria), and also in Central Africa (Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, DRC).
The species iatandza appreciates above all the dense humid semi-deciduous forests. It is more rarely found in evergreen forests, in which it ventures during clearings. The fruits are dispersed at short distance by the wind (anemochory).
