Andoung is a large tree that can reach up to 55 m in height and 2.5 m in diameter. The bole is straight, with large buttresses.
The tropical species andoung is a light to medium-heavy, soft to medium-hard wood. It is not durable and is best used inside with no risk of dampness. The sapwood is not clearly demarcated, so it is necessary to treat the wood against dry wood borers.
It is used in the plywood industry due to its good peeling.
